Heidi allowed me to take an honest non-defensive view of myself through the eyes and perceptions of others within the organisation. She was compassionate in her approach to help me focus on change and self-improvement. This allowed me to take an honest assessment of myself and put my goals and aspirations into context for the future; to manage my time better and to prioritise. My self-awareness and self-confidence has grown and allowed me to become a much more effective leader and mentor. Her work ethic, attention and memory to small detail, surprised me. Though initially sceptical of the process and its reach into my life, I was very pleasantly surprised. Heidi had the ability to immediately put me at ease and make me feel comfortable to share, even that which I didn’t expect to reveal. The process of coaching requires good direction, trust and a clear course of action, a job she has executed extremely well. This process has worked very well for me, both personally and professionally, making me more confident in my dealings and more sure of my plans. The public speaking presentation by Heidi was a check list session for me to help me become an effective speaker. The tips will come in handy in helping to improve my public speaking skills and becoming a well prepared speaker. It has made me understand that the amount of preparation taken for speeches will only be worth it if my execution is correct. This will be possible by using my voice correctly, through breathing correctly."

I think that voice projection skills will be a factor that will form an integral part of my career. I will need to inform my colleagues daily about work in the form of presentations and speeches. Therefore voice projection is an essential tool in getting the message across."

As a medical student, what stood out for me was understanding that one’s thought patterns play an important part in causing anxiety, especially when they go around in a vicious circle. I will now focus on what happens in my mind and body in order to become calm, so that I can think clearly and on my feet when I am speaking and when I engage with my audience. I also think that the voice exercises were good to help with confidence and preparation."

I’ve done a lot of assessments already, but what stood out about Persolog is that I couldn’t manipulate the answers. This workshop was FUN. It was understandable, and a lot of the examples that were used I could relate to. Heidi was very approachable, so I could easily ask questions if I didn’t understand. This made me more comfortable in the workshop."

We were open for the first time how we felt about one another. I believe this workshop should take place before the student leaders come into office or assumes duties. It taught us that open communication is the best weapon to leadership and it stimulated our critical thinking.
